Phoenix Lofts

Downtown loft living is hot all around the Phoenix area. The convenience of maintenance-free in-town living, combined with gourmet kitchens, elegant baths and great city/mountain views attract retirees, singles and professional couples.

Phoenix lofts come in all shapes and sizes from modest 600 square foot units to two-story loft homes. Many Phoenix lofts have balconies or patios. Some are in brand-new buildings constructed to resemble old warehouses. Other Phoenix lofts are being built in renovated hotels or commercial buildings.

The downtown Orpheum Lofts development is a 1931 art deco building that had been Phoenix Title and Trust. It’s located in Cooper Square near sports and cultural venues. The 11-story Orpheum is offering a variety of units from 700 square feet to 1,800 square feet of living space, plus a penthouse. Lofts can be combined to create custom units. Original prices start in the high $100s and go up to $1.5 million.

The Stadium Lofts, also situated in the midst of Phoenix sports and entertainment activity, offers its 31 loft homes for $265,000 to $300,000.

The Fontenelle Lofts is a turn of the century apartment building in the Roosevelt historic district converted into seven loft condos.

Lofts at Fillmore is another conversion. Eighteen luxury condos, priced from $150,000 to just under $300,000, were constructed in the former Casa Mar Val apartment building.

Copper Square Lofts is a planned 16-story loft/condo development in the Cooper Square section. The building would have ground floor retail and two floors of parking. One, two and three-bedrooms will be offered, as well as penthouse residences.

Downtown Lofts, planned for the warehouse district, is being built with as red brick faÁade that resembles a Chicago-style industrial building. The units will have 11 to 22 foot ceilings, hardwood floors and exposed ductwork. Smallest unit size is1,235 square feet; largest is 1,860 square feet. Prices start at $250,000

Willowalk is being built in the Willo Historic District. The development will have interior courtyards, pool, spa, fitness facility, home theater room and a clubhouse. One- level lofts, two story penthouse lofts, and two-story brownstones will be offered in five planned buildings.

Artisan Lofts on Central is a new two-building complex that’s located on nearly three acres across from the city’s Central Library. Floor plans can be combined to create very large units. Sizes being offered range from 1,501 square feet to over 2,900. Artisan Lofts will provide residents with pool, spa, garden courtyard, a dog park and rooftop deck with fireplace

In Tempe, the Orchidhouse is turning former homeowners into downtown dwellers. The building offers 78 units from around 600 square feet all the way up to 2,100 square feet. There are five penthouses with 2,400 square feet of living space, and a larger penthouse in development in early 2004. The building has underground parking, entrance security and elevators. Units feature 11-foot ceilings, ceramic floors, and European style baths. Prices start at $250,000.

Scottsdale’s take on loft living is exemplified by the Third Avenue Lofts, the city’s
first residential mid-rise with single and two-level lofts, and penthouse homes.
The five-story development has 88 units, and several floorplans. Living space ranges from just over 600 square feet to units that are nearly 2,300 square feet.
Residents of Third Avenue Lofts can walk to galleries, the Civic Center Plaza, Scottsdale’s baseball stadium, the Scottsdale Fashion Square mall, clubs and restaurants.
