Phoenix Homes Get Much Needed Repairs Thanks to Extra Grant Money

With a $550,000 grant from the Arizona Department of Housing, the Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department (NSD) is starting a program that will make “essential repairs” to the west Phoenix homes of low-income residents. The NSD has already identified which of the Phoenix homes are in most need of repairs.

In order to qualify, households had to have an income that was 80 percent the average income for the area or less. Most of the Phoenix homes found eligible “are occupied by young families and seven have elderly residents.

Repairs are underway, with five Phoenix homes already completed and nine in progress. In total, the NSD believes it can make repairs to 15 west Phoenix homes. The organization is covering plumbing, electrical and roofing repairs.
